Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Motorists are being advised of some new lane closures on the 4th Street Southeast due to the ongoing repairs to the steam line that connects the Olmsted Waste-to-Energy facility to customers in downtown Rochester.

Beginning Monday, the Rochester Public Works Department says the right lane for eastbound traffic will be closed between 6th Avenue and 9th Avenue, limiting eastbound traffic to one Lane. The westbound lanes will not be impacted during the first phase of the work, but in about two weeks, traffic on the 4th Street Southeast will be limited to one lane in each direction until the project is finished.

The sidewalk on the south side of 4th Street in the construction area will also be closed until the project's completion, which is estimated to take place by November 10th. City officials say the lane closures will impact bus routes. Information on those impacts can be found at the Rochester Public Transit website.

The Public Works Department also says a one-block section of 5th Avenue Southwest will be completely closed to traffic from this Monday until at least next Monday. The closure between 3rd and 4th Streets is needed for the installation of a storm sewer.
