Mantorville, MN (KROC AM News) – Lois Riess is now facing murder charges in the death of her husband.

The Dodge County grand jury has returned an indictment charging the 57-year-old Riess with one count each of 1st degree and 2nd-degree murder.

The indictment was filed Wednesday and a warrant will be in effect until she is taken into custody or returned from Florida where she is also facing a 1st-degree murder charge in the death of a Fort Myers woman.

Riess is accused of shooting her husband David in their Blooming Prairie area home in March 2018 and then fleeing to Florida. While in the Fort Myers area, police say she murdered a woman in April and stole her car and credit cards. She was caught in Texas April 19th and turned over to Florida authorities. She faces the death penalty if convicted in the Florida case.

It’s unknown if Riess will be returned to Minnesota to face prosecution in the murder of her husband.
