Fort Myers, FL (KROC-AM News) - Some documents released this week by Florida prosecutors indicate Lois Riess established a new friendship with a woman in south Texas while she was the subject of a nationwide manhunt for the murders of her husband in Dodge County and a woman in Fort Myers Florida. According to the News-Press newspaper in Fort Myers, the Florida State Attorney’s Office made public over 2600 pages of documents concerning the investigation of Pamela Hutchinson’s murder on April 9th.

Riess has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing Hutchinson in her rented condominium and then stealing her identity, car, and money as she allegedly worked to evade arrest for the shooting death of her husband at their home near Blooming Prairie in late March. She has not yet been charged with the murder of David Riess.

The documents contain information provided by a 65-year-old woman, who met the 56-year-old Riess at a South Padre Island Texas restaurant in the days after Hutchinson’s murder in Florida. According to the news report in the News-Press, she told investigators Riess stayed a night at her residence, but she also indicated a bartender told she was “out of it” after only a couple drinks and she did not remember why she agreed to have Riess come to her home. The woman was planning to meet Riess the following evening when she learned of her arrest.
