Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - A northwest Minnesota man has been given a long prison sentence for using two young children in the production of child pornography.

Sentenced Tuesday to 45 years in prison was 39-year-old Benjamin Roggenbuck of Thief River Falls.

The case was prosecuted in federal court.

The US Attorney’s office says Roggenbuck admitted using the children to produce visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct from November 2012 to February 2020. He also pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing sexually explicit images of young children.

As part of his plea agreement, Roggenbuck also pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges filed by the Pennington County Attorney’s Office.

After he completes his sentence, Roggenbuck will be on supervised release for the rest of his life.

“While 45 years in prison is appropriate for this case, these children are now permanent victims of a crime no person should ever experience,” said Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans. “The BCA will continue to pursue criminals who would exploit Minnesota’s children in this terrible way and bring them to justice.”
