Luke Bryan Gets in the Christmas Spirit With ‘O Holy Night’
Yes, we know it's not even Thanksgiving yet -- but for those who just can't wait to get the tree up and the stockings hung, Luke Bryan is the latest country star to get all of us pumped up for the Christmas holidays. He's just revealed a lovely, straightforward version of the classic "O Holy Night," which is sure to get even the Grinch in the mood.
The new American Idol judge debuted a preview of the carol with People on Nov. 9, and the full version is now available for fans to enjoy on demand.
Although others including Martina McBride have famously covered the beloved Christmas classic, it seems Bryan's warm-toned version is already winning favor. Comments on his YouTube channel ranged from "His voice is angelic" to "It made my heart melt."
This isn’t Bryan's first foray into the holiday realms. In 2008, his version of “Run Run Rudolph” off the album Country for Christmas hit the charts at No. 42, the second-highest charting of the tune behind only the debut recording by Chuck Berry.
Bryan has additionally been leaking songs from his forthcoming (non-holiday) album What Makes Your Country, including "Most People are Good" and the title track. He was a nominee for Entertainer of the Year at the 51st annual CMA Awards.
