Why Minnesota Ranks Among the Happiest States in the Nation
Minnesota: the land of 10,000 lakes, below-zero winters, and apparently, above-average happiness.
According to WalletHub, Minnesota is one of the happiest states in the country. That’s right! We’re out here thriving, even though we didn't snag the top spot.
Turns out, our mix of strong economy, emotional well-being, physical health, and social stability has us grinning from ear to ear - most days, at least. And let’s not forget that classic Minnesota Nice attitude, which surely gives our happiness ranking an extra boost!

WalletHub broke it down by analyzing 30 key factors, from depression rates to income growth. And let’s not forget that all-important metric: feeling productive. Which, TBH, we Minnesotans know a thing or two about - we’ve got driveways to shovel!
So, while we didn’t snag the #1 spot, we’re up there, and that’s saying something when you’re competing with 50 states. Minnesota has been named the 6th happiest state in America.
The only states that beat us were Delaware (#5), Utah (4), New Jersey (3), Maryland (2) and taking the number one spot, the best place on earth (in my opinion), Hawaii!
Now, in case you're curious about the competition, our Midwest buddies didn’t fare too badly either. Iowa placed 19th, while Wisconsin followed at 21st.
But let’s be real, Minnesota’s always going to take the win in the region when it comes to balancing work, life, and happiness - especially when we’ve got lakes, trails, and enough hotdish to go around! ;)
