There is a new documentary coming to Netflix tomorrow (Wednesday) called "Athlete A". In this documentary is Minnesota native gymnast, Maggie Nichols. Unfortunately, this isn't a happy documentary because it's discussing the sexual abuse involving a former USA Gymnastics doctor.

Dr. Larry Nassar was a doctor at Michigan State University and for USA Gymnastics. During his time as a gymnastics doctor, he sexually abused over 100 gymnasts. This Netflix documentary will be discussing gymnasts' accounts of what he did. This includes gymnast Maggie Nichols, who is from Little Canada, MN, and is now at the University of Oklahoma.

Maggie had written a letter that was released to the public in 2015, according to Bring Me the News. She had gone to Dr. Nassar before for an elbow injury and nothing had happened. When she was 15 when she went Dr. Nassar for back pain she was experiencing. When she was there for her appointment, he took her into a room and closed the door and shut the blinds. She wrote in her letter:

"At the time I thought this was kind of weird but figured it must be okay. I thought he probably didn’t want to distract the other girls and I trusted him." He touched her in places that she "really didn't think he should," and he wasn't wearing gloves nor explaining what he was doing.

She said she "'accepted what he was doing because [she] was told by adults that he was the best doctor and he could help relieve [her] pain.'"

Maggie also spoke with WCCO about the documentary and said, "'I think it’s going to be super educational and people are really, I think their eyes are going to open.'”
