Alma, WI (KROC-AM News) - Conditional bail has been set at $1 million for a Rochester man accused of murdering a Nelson Wisconsin woman several years ago.

48-year-old Randall Merrick made his first appearance at the Buffalo County Courthouse in Alma, Wisconsin this morning after he was transferred from the Olmsted County Jail, where he had been held since his arrest last week. Merrick is charged with first-degree murder during the commission of domestic violence and hiding a corpse in connection with the death of Beth Johnson.

Merrick and Johnson shared a trailer home just outside Nelson Wisconsin until her death, which occurred sometime between Christmas Day 2016 and early March and 2017. Johnson's body was found last week in a northern Twin Cities suburb. Merrick was arrested in Rochester last week after Wisconsin authorities issued an arrest warrant based on the criminal complaint charging him with her murder and hiding her body.

He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 10.
