The battle has dragged on for decades with no end in sight and the Minnesota Department of Transportation has come up with various weapons over the years and now has a new one.  It's called "The Icebreaker."

MnDOT says the monster weighs two tons, has hundreds of steel "teeth" and is attached to its snowplows to help deal with compacted snow.

MnDOT says it is only used when at least an inch of ice or compacted snow is covering the road to prevent damage to the pavement.
