Minnesota Restaurant Named Best Breakfast Spot in Entire State

Who doesn't love a hearty breakfast, right? And if you're looking for a place to grab breakfast, this Minnesota restaurant was just named the best in the state!

Breakfast has been called the Most Important Meal of the Day, seeing as it's the meal you eat right after you wake up that fuels the rest of your day. The name itself is a combination of words that literally mean to 'break' the 'fast' you've been enduring since your last meal, likely the previous evening or maybe a bedtime snack.

We've been breaking our fast with a breakfast meal for a while now. The earliest recorded instances of a morning meal can be found many, many years ago, according to this breakfast history site:

The origins of breakfast are thought to date back to the ancient world, when people would break their fasts with a simple meal before starting their day. The first known reference to breakfast in English dates back to the 15th century, when it was mentioned in a work by author Thomas Nashe.

There are many different types of foods that are eaten for a typical breakfast, and there are many places that serve breakfast, often depending upon the region in which you find yourself. However, if you happen to find yourself here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, a new survey from MSN has just named the Best Breakfast Spot in the entire state of Minnesota.

That honor goes to Al's Breakfast, in the Dinkytown neighborhood of Minneapolis (Specifically, Al's is located at 14th Ave SE between 4th and 5th Streets.) MSN says it takes the top spot in the Bold North because of the variety of delicious breakfast dishes it serves:

Al's is popular thanks to breakfast plates like corned beef hash and buttermilk pancakes you can get with everything from sweet corn kernels to strawberries and sour cream. Keep in mind that the space is usually crowded (you can also order for curbside pickup), but if you don’t mind that you’ll be in for a treat.

Al's own website notes that the restaurant has been serving hearty breakfasts at its 14-seat counter since 1950! It's currently open from 6 am to 1 pm Monday through Saturday and from 9 am to 1 pm on Sundays.

Al's also says that they serve only homemade breakfasts, made from real ingredients, noting: 'We don't have a freezer, deep fryer, or microwave oven because we believe that meals taste best when they're made from real ingredients by people who care. That, and we don't have space for anything else,' their site says.
