MN Malt Shop Now One Of Best Places To Get A Shake In the Country

If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth with a milkshake, one of the best shops in the entire country is right here in Minnesota.

That's the word from this 247 Tempo story which investigated just which shops in each of the 50 states will make you the best shake. BTW, it says they're called 'shakes' because early shops combined ingredients like ice cream and milk and then shook them up in a metal shaker (like you'd use to make a cocktail today) before electric blenders were invented.

Now if you want a malt, you start with the same ingredients, this Web Restaurant Store Blog story says, but you then add 'a spoonful of malted milk powder after the ice cream and milk are blended,' which will give the malt a sweeter and richer taste.

To compile their rankings of the best shops to get a shake, 247 Tempo said they looked at 'reviews and ratings from numerous crowd-sourced platforms, including Yelp, Tripadvisor, and Foursquare, as well as a range of local and regional websites.'

So if you want the best shake (or malt) here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, 247 Tempo says you've gotta head over to The Malt Shop Kitchen and Bar in the Lynhurst area of Minneapolis. The Malt Shop's website says the shop with the best shakes has been at that location at 809 W. 50th Street since 1973, and celebrated its 50th anniversary last spring.
