St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol wants more women state troopers.

The agency has announced a pledge to increase the number of female state troopers and support staff to 30% of its staffing in those positions by 2030. The State Patrol says women currently account for about 10% of its sworn officers.

“This pledge means we are actively working toward improving the representation and experiences of women officers in our agency,” said Lt. Col. Rochelle Schrofer. “We’re committing to growing a culture that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of its female troopers.”

A news release on the "30X30" initiative says it will take measures to increase the representation of women and all ranks of law enforcement, ensure policies and procedures are free of bias, promote the hiring, retention, and promotion of women officers, and create a culture that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of female officers.
