When you think of Minnesota, what comes to mind? Maybe a serene lake scene? Or the state capitol building in St. Paul? Or how about a big Jucy Lucy hamburger? We've just compiled the complete list of things that symbolize the great state of Minnesota.
While we all know several well-known Minnesota symbols, like the loon being our state bird, or 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' being our state slogan, how many of these 'unofficial' symbols do you know?
While the Minnesota Legislature is still in session for its 2025 term right now, I haven't heard of any new 'official' symbols that have come up for a vote at the capitol in St. Paul this year, though that *could* change. It's not likely, but the legislative session does run through mid-May, so anything is possible.

Over the years, however, the Minnesota Legislature has designated 19 different categories of state symbols, everything from the official state flower (the pink and white Lady Slipper) to the official state fruit (the Honeycrisp apple.)
But there have been several other requests to designate other things are official symbols of the North Star State, as well-- though they weren't passed into law. So, according to the Minnesota Legislature, here are the 10 Best Unofficial Minnesota State Symbols:
