The Minnesota Town Everyone Calls the Best at Christmas
We just gushed over a Minnesota cabin that practically screams Christmas… but can an entire city pull it off? Turns out, yes.
Minnesota has plenty of adorable small towns, but only one was officially crowned one of the “Most Magical Christmas Towns in America” And it wasn’t Minneapolis. It wasn’t Duluth. It wasn’t Stillwater or Rochester or any place you’d guess on the first try.
The Minnesota Town Everyone Calls the Best at Christmas:
There was only one Minnesota city to make Country Living’s list last year, single-handedly carrying the entire state with all things Christmas. And honestly? After seeing what they do for the holidays… fair.
Red Wing doesn’t just decorate every year, they go all in. If you haven't been, I hear their Holiday Stroll alone is basically a Hallmark audition tape. The entire town shows up for a full day of fun!
Everything from parades to sleigh rides. A gingerbread house contest and cookie decorating. There's music EVERYWHERE. A petting zoo. A tree lighting ceremony. Photos with Santa. And, so much more!
Country Living literally used Red Wing as an example of what makes a Christmas town magical. And they weren’t wrong.
The 2025 Holiday Stroll is already on the calendar with a cozy “Old Fashioned Christmas” theme, plus a brand-new Christmas Market popping up at Willow Brooke Farm. Basically, if you’re not in the holiday spirit yet, Red Wing will fix that in 10 minutes or less.

The 24th annual Holiday Stroll is happening on Friday November 28th, 2025 in Downtown Red Wing.
So while we can argue endlessly about the best cookies or whether “Die Hard” counts as a Christmas movie, there’s really no debate here:
Red Wing still deserves the crown as Minnesota’s most magical Christmas town.
