St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Tim Walz disclosed today that 2 of the people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Minnesota are being treated in intensive care units.

The Minnesota Department of Health says a total of 8 people have required hospitalization after contracting the new coronavirus but the vast majority of the patients are recovering at home. The statewide total of confirmed cases grew by 26 today and stands at 115.

Locally, there were 5 new cases confirmed in Olmsted County, which is now seen 11 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. The Minnesota Health Department today reported there were 2 cases in Fillmore County, which were the first reported in that county.

A statement issued by the Dodge County Administrators office indicates that County has seen its first. Officials say that involves a person in their 20s who is in isolation and recovering at home. A positive test result was not reported until this afternoon and will appear in the state health department update when it is issued tomorrow.
