Nearly 20,000 Amazon Employees Have Tested Positive for COVID-19
Two massive stories broke overnight. The biggest being that President Trump and the First Lady have both tested positive for COVID-19. President Trump confirmed it in a Tweet. Click here to read more about that. Second, Amazon has released its COVID numbers.
Did you know that Amazon has been conducting their own tests and studies? This is amazing! According to their website, they've assembled a "world-class lab team."
"We're conducting thousands of tests a day, and growing to 50,000 tests a day across 650 sites by November as part of our effort to keep our front-line employees safe. And because we've built this testing capacity ourselves, we're adding to the total number of tests available—not taking supply from others." -Amazon.
With the number of people shopping online, this type of testing is crucial - keeping everyone safe. According to the news release, employees are regularly screened for symptoms and are increasingly being tested at work, regardless of whether they are showing symptoms.
Out of their 1.3+ million employees, just shy of 20,000 people tested positive. Those are the results from March until mid-September.
And, in case you were wondering, Minnesota had the highest number for positive cases among Amazon employees. Iowa's numbers were unavailable, and Wisconsin had about half as many positive cases. Click here to see the state by state breakdown.
