If you were looking to get out on the water on Lake Zumbro this weekend, there's a new way ready for you, thanks to Olmsted County.

While Gov. Walz went ahead and extended Minnesota's Stay-At-Home order Thursday through May 18th, one of the things we CAN still do is get out and enjoy the great outdoors here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. (As long as you don't do it with a big group of friends, mind you...)

And the forecast calls for GREAT weather in our neck of the woods this weekend, so if you want to get out on the water on beautiful Lake Zumbro, there's a new public boat launch waiting for you.

It's at the site of the parking lot for the former Fisherman's Inn. If you recall, Olmsted County finalized plans to purchase that property earlier this year with plans to demolish the building and add a new county park, complete with boat access to Lake Zumbro.

Well, part of that plan is ready right now, just in time for our warming weather. This Post-Bulletin story says a new dock has been installed and will be open to the public starting Friday, May 1st, along with an expanded parking area.

The remainder of the project, like taking down the building and redeveloping the area into a park space, has been put on hold as the county-- like just about all of us-- deals with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and continuing financial fallout.

If you're curious where the new boat launch is, you can check out the site, courtesy of Google Maps, HERE.
