The Memorial Day weekend isn't the only kickoff to summer in Minnesota, as Valleyfair is set to reopen a popular attraction this weekend as well!

Valleyfair has been Minnesota's lone amusement park for nearly 50 years, standing tall along Highway 169 in Shakopee since it first opened in 1976. The park features more than 75 rides, including eight roller coasters and Planet Snoopy, which features 15 children’s rides. It is also home to Soak City, a waterpark filled with slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and children’s water features.

Last summer, Valleyfair announced that it had new owners, as a merger deal between Cedar Fair and Six Flags officially closed, which means Valleyfair has been a part of the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation for nearly a year already.  And they just announced plans to reopen a popular attraction at their park,

Valleyfair officially opened for the 2025 summer season back on May 10th. From fan-favorites like ValleyScare in the fall to the inaugural Juicy Lucy Festival, ValleyFair notes that there is 'something to keep guests coming back to the park all season long,' this year.

And now, Valleyfair just announced that its popular waterpark, Soak City, will open for this season this weekend:

Soak City, Valleyfair's seven-acre waterpark, featuring water slides, a wave pool, lazy river, splash stations, cabanas, dining and beverages, and entertainment, will open on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, from 11 am to 6 pm.

According to a Vallerfair release, Soak City will also sport several new features this year, including: Schooner’s Bar for a full bar experience complete with frozen drinks; a newly remodeled Beach Bites food location; and a new merchandise location, Dockside Supplies.

Throughout the 2025 season, Valleyfair also noted that there will be several other new attractions as well:

  • The new SoundCycle, a pedal-powered musical experience
  • Hoops 101, a new interactive hula hoop show
  • Happiness is…, a show celebrating The Peanuts ™ 75th anniversary
  • Summer Smash-Up, a high-energy music and dance show,
  • The Drifters, an acoustic beachy-vibe music act,
  • Music Goes ‘Round and Around, a Peanuts musical show that takes you on a journey through the decades

If you recall, the 2024 season at Vallefair got off to a bit of a wet start-- and not just on the park's Soak City water rides, either.  The Valleyfair campus in Shakopee was inundated by rising flood waters from the Minnesota River in June 2024 and was forced to close several rides, as well as part of their parking area.

It was also forced to reschedule its popular Fourth of July fireworks display. Check out what things looked like in late June 2024.

This year, though, those waters are back in check (so far!) and Valleyfair is looking forward to opening Soak City this weekend.
