No Love at Mall of America: Chapel of Love to Close

If you were looking to get hitched in the biggest mall in the country, you only have a few weeks left!

The Mall of America in Bloomington is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. In fact, the actual anniversary date was just last week, as the MOA site noted. 'On August 11, 1992, when Mall of America opened its doors, 330 stores opened for business and more than 10,000 employees started their first day of work,' the site said.

Over those 30 years, there have been many different stores that have opened and closed over MOA's four different levels. And now, one of the more unique offerings at MOA has announced it'll be closing up shop soon. Or, closing up its altar, that is.

Because, sadly, the Chapel of Love wedding chapel at MOA announced that it's going to be closing at the end of August. Did you even know there was a wedding chapel at MOA? (I have to confess I'm not sure that I did!) But yes, Chapel of Love (located on Level 3 near the East Parking Ramp) has been performing weddings at the mega mall since the year 2000, as the MOA site notes:

Chapel of Love is pleased to invite you to create your dream wedding in our romantic chapel, located in the exciting Mall of America. For 22 years we have provided over 7,500 couples the intimacy of our lovely indoor garden chapel in which to exchange or renew wedding vows with the assistance of our helpful consultants and our staff of ordained ministers.

But according to a post on the Chapel of Love Facebook page, the wedding chapel (which existed for several years, apparently at its other location in Inver Grove Heights) before it opened its location at MOA) is going to perform its last ceremony on August 28th, 2022, as its owners are looking to retire.

Until that final day, Chapel of Love is having a discount sale, with weddings available to be scheduled based on availability. It looks like the Chapel of Love makes planning your wedding much easier than planning a traditional wedding, as the site explains. (You first select a wedding package, and additional options such as photography, video and floral packages.  Then, book your wedding--- but make sure it's by August 28th!)
