Yup, That’s Old Dominion in Rodney Atkins’ ‘It’s America’ Music Video
Rodney Atkins dropped some behind-the-scenes knowledge on his fans on Instagram recently: Did you know there are some future country stars in the music video for the title track of his 2009 album, "It's America"?
According to Atkins, that's a few of the members of Old Dominion piling out of a minivan at about 2:25. In the clip, Atkins stars as a mechanic who works at Rod's Garage; he helps the newly crowned ACM Group of the Year find their way to their destination. Appropriately, the scene takes place as Atkins sings "It’s a kid with a chance / It’s a rock 'n' roll band ..."
"It's America" became Atkins' fifth No. 1 hit following its release in late 2008. The album itself hit No. 3 on the country charts.
Old Dominion first formed as a band in 2007, hoping to showcase their songwriting. The band's members found success as writers in Music City before the band released their debut EP in 2014. Their 2015 single "Break Up With Him" became their breakout song, and they're now two time ACM Group of the Year winners.
