‘On Wisconsin’ Fight Song Was Originally Intended For Minnesota?

When the University of Wisconsin Badgers take on the Kentucky in the Final Four Saturday night, you'll no doubt hear the fight song, 'On Wisconsin.' But was that classic Wisconsin song originally meant for the U of M?

Turns out, it was. Really! BringMeTheNews.com has the entire story here, but apparently, the song actually was written with the University of Minnesota in mind. Supposedly the composer had written the song with the intent of submitting it to the U of M, as an entry in a contest being held to find a school fight song. But the composer ended up submitting to the University of Wisconsin instead. The rest, as they say, is history. Kind of wild, isn't it?
