(KROC-AM News) - One person was shot after an officer-involved shooting in Mahnomen County early Sunday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office said a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 1:30 Sunday morning, which turned into a chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle entered the ditch in the Village of Naytahwush.

After the vehicle stopped, shots were fired. The female driver was transported to a Fargo hospital with gunshot wounds. Her condition is unknown.

The involved deputy was not injured. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.
