Only One Restaurant In MN, WI and IA Just Made This Exclusive List
Only one restaurant in the upper Midwest was mentioned in the 2023 Yelp list of the Best Places to Eat in the US.
There are a lot of restaurants here in Minnesota, right? There are even MORE when you add in all the restaurants located in Wisconsin and Iowa. This is why it's a pretty big honor to be the ONLY restaurant included in the 2023 Yelp list of the Best Places To Eat in the US.
But that's the case this year. So while many of Minnesota's incredible restaurants have made national headlines, none of them were apparently big enough hits with Yelp's users to muster inclusion on this list. Ditto for all the restaurants behind the Cheddar Curtain over in Wisconsin.

2023 marks the tenth year that Yelp has published its list of the top restaurants in the US, and in our neck of the woods, the Hawkeye State was the only state to place one restaurant on that list this year:
That honor goes to Cafe d'Marie, which is located in Davenport, Iowa. It came in ranked #36 on the 2023 Yelp's List of the Top 100 Places to Eat in the US. According to Yelp, it first opened in 2009, and has gone on to achieve its top five 5-star rating, based on 302 reviews.
Here's what Yelp had to say about Cafe d'Marie:
Tucked in an 1860s house along the Mississippi River, Cafe D’Marie transports you to another place and time. Handcrafted European-inspired menu items are familiar enough, yet zhuzhed up with novel flavor combinations and local ingredients. They include a quiche du jour (such as one with artichoke, goat cheese, and spinach), a long list of panini (with ingredients like ham, turkey, pesto mayo, and muenster cheese on tomato basil bread), and colorful salads dressed in a blueberry-feta vinaigrette that Yelpers describe as “unlike any other.”
I can't say I've ever eaten at Cafe d'Marie (I don't think I've ever even been to Davenport, come to think of it) but congrats on the honor! And while there weren't any restaurants from the Land of 10,000 Lakes on the list this year, keep scrolling to check out all the Minnesota restaurants that have been featured on the Food Network!
