Only Two Other Cities Are Better To Live In Than Rochester
Our own Rochester, Minnesota was just named one of the top three cities in America to live in by a new national survey.
While maybe not as prestigious as the US News and World Report 'Best Hospitals in the Country' survey that Rochester's Mayo Clinic just won again, the city of Rochester's ranking on the 2022 Liveability 'Top 100 Best Places to Live in America' survey isn't too shabby. In fact, Liveability says only two other cities are better places to live than Rochester is!
For the past nine years, the number crunchers at Liveability have been compiling their annual list of the Best Places to Live in America. To come up with the rankings, Liveability looks at several different criteria:
This year, we examined more than 2,300 cities based on more than 50 data points that are grouped into eight categories, measuring a city’s economic stability, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital and health care.
And, after looking at all the data, Rochester came in ranked third in the 2022 survey. Only Ann Arbor, Michigan (at #2) and Madison, Wisconsin (ranked #1) were listed as better places to live than Minnesota's Med City.
Here's what Liveability had to say about Rochester and why it ranked third this year:
Rochester is always brewing with excitement, as the community boasts gorgeous Midwest scenery, an arts scene full of galleries, theaters and museums, must-try fine dining and food truck favorites, amazing breweries and wineries, and the nearly 200,000-square-foot Mayo Civic Center. And as its strong economy suggests, finding a job in this city of more than 117,00 is a breeze. Did we mention two of its main employers are the Mayo Clinic and IBM?
Rochester ranked high in categories like the economy, healthcare (duh!), housing, demographics and education. Even though it listed our population as 117,000 (while the 2020 U.S. Census says it's actually 121,465), the survey was very complimentary of Rah-Rah-Rochester. (You can read more HERE.)
Naperville, Illinois; Overland Park, Kansas; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Fishers, Indiana; Salt Lake City, Utah; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Carmel, Indiana rounded out the Liveability Top 10 Best Places to Live in America 2022 list.
