Sheriff’s Lt. Lee Rossman says the teen decided to try to drive over an embankment and down a ditch at high speed in an effort to jump Cemetery St. but he hit a bump and “went airborne prematurely and flew over the handlebar.”

Rossman says the teenager was wearing a helmet with a facemask but suffered facial injuries, either from hitting the handlebar or the ground.

Rossman says the teen was “conscious and alert” when a deputy arrived but his parents decided to call an ambulance because of his head injuries.
