Plainview Man Killed in Wreck Near Elgin
Elgin, MN (KROC AM News) - A Plainview man was killed Tuesday in a traffic wreck in rural Olmsted County.
Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kirby Long says the 24-year-old victim was driving a pickup truck south on 80th Ave NE when witnesses say he ran a stop sign at the intersection with County Rd 21. His vehicle was hit on the driver’s side by another pickup that was headed west on the county road. Long says the victim had to be cut from the wreckage and had no pulse when he was removed. He was taken to St. Marys Hospital where was pronounced dead about an hour after the wreck that happened just before 5:00 PM.
The other driver was identified as 73-year-old Donald Walch of Eyota, who was treated at the scene.
The name of the victim is being withheld until family members have been notified.
