Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Some information on a proposed apartment building along North Broadway was shared with the Destination Medical Center Corporation Board Thursday.

The proposal is called Bryk Apartments and the complex would be built at the northwest corner parcel of land at the N. Broadway/Civic Center Dr intersection near the Kemp’s ice cream plant. The site is bare and considered blighted.

The information shared at the meeting indicates the project team consists of John and Marcia Bouquet, Dirk Erickson, Kristina Larson, Ben Kall and the Kraus Anderson company.

The plan calls for “a mixed-use, mixed-income apartment building consisting of approximately 165 to 180 workforce housing apartments and 5,000-15,000 square feet of commercial space.”

The team says financing for the project “has been approved with a certain expectation of assistance required" and it’s expected DMC and city funds will be sought.

It’s possible a recommendation could be ready for consideration by the DMC Board and City Council in February.

Tentative plans call for construction to begin in April and be completed by August 2022.
