Purchase One Bowl of Soup in Rochester and Create 60 Meals for People in Need
Each year Channel One's "Empty Bowls" event attracts thousands of people. The money raised is used to fight hunger in 14 counties across southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. There won't be a large gathering this year, but the event is still happening, and your support is needed more than ever as the pandemic has drastically increased demand for assistance.
To keep everyone safe the soup will be served to-go on October 8th and October 9th. Channel One's website explains, "Throughout this two-day event, supporters will be able to select from several different soup flavors made by local restaurants, and time slots for pick-up. Pick-up will be able from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm each day that the event will take place. All proceeds will support Channel One Regional Food Bank’s mission – to strengthen food access and build healthy communities."
Bowls of soup are $15 and pints are $20 and each order will come with a handcrafted bowl to keep as a memento. When you purchase a bowl of soup you are donating enough to create 60 meals for families in need.
Participating restaurants include Bleu Duck Kitchen, Cameo, Canadian Honker, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Forager, J. Powers at Hilton. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. Learn more and view the menu here.
