Last minute seats were available Thursday afternoon, and to me it looked like a packed house. What a fantastic opportunity to witness a veteran guitarist, singer, & songwriter in front of an appreciative Minnesota audience.

Sometimes all you need is an artist who can deliver pure musicianship,
a quick wit, and is not afraid to bare his true self with honesty and down-home charm & humility. This is how I set the stage for Vince Gill's performance Thursday evening in Mankato.

No bombast, or gimmicks needed. Simply pure musicianship, period!
He is a man who is truly still enjoying what he does, and is very comfortable in his own skin. Within his 2 hour & 15 minute performance (including encore) he went back to the beginning, found room to pay homage to an inspiration of his (Merle Haggard), and told a story or two in the process, including a beautiful solo ballad to his wife, Amy Grant.
Also, he has surrounded himself with a veteran supporting cast of musicians who all still seem wowed when he tears into a lengthy guitar solo, and hits some vocal high notes others may not be able hit at the tender age of 57.

Here are a few photos and a short video clip. Enjoy!
