Minnesota has seen an "alarming" number of state trooper squad cars hit in February. A record number of 15 squad cars have been hit this month. Minnesota Department of Public Saftey spokesman Doug Neville tells KARE 11 that "that's the most in any month of any year on record."

It is required by Minnesota law that if you see flashing lights you must move over. If you are not able to move over please slow down and drive with caution.

Out of the 15 squad cars hit this month, 8 officers were injured. In February of 2017 and 2018, 2 squad cars were hit all month. In total this year, 22 squad cars have been hit and it's only the end of February.

From KARE 11, here are the total number of state trooper squad cars that were hit in previous years:

- 2019 (to date) – 22
- 2018 – 19
- 2017 – 14
- 2016 – Statistics not available
- 2015 – Statistics not available
- 2014 – 25
- 2013 – 19
- 2012 – 17
- 2011 – 26
- 2010 – 27
- 2009 – 28
- 2008 – 22

2019 is already towards the top of the list and we are only in February. I really hope people become more cautious so we don't break another record.
