Rochester Area Jobless Rate Reflects Worker Shortage
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The unemployment rate for the Rochester area was steady last month at just two-percent.
The latest data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows that it matches September for the lowest Olmsted County jobless rate this year. It was up slightly when compared to October of last year when the unemployment rate was 1.8-percent, which was the lowest it had been since the fall of 1999.
Olmsted County continued to enjoy the lowest jobless rate in the region where every county reported unemployment rates below 3-percent. Freeborn County was the highest that 2.8-percent. Most of the rates throughout southeastern Minnesota were steady or nearly steady last month, although Houston County reported a drop from 2.4 to 2.1-percent.
