Rochester Arrest Leads to Prison Sentence For Prolific Shoplifter
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Olmsted County judge has sentenced a woman to 19 months in prison in a shoplifting case.
34-year-old Miranda Roberts earlier entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a felony charge of aiding and abetting felony theft. Four other counts of felony theft or aiding and abetting felony theft were dismissed.
The Shakopee woman’s conviction involves the theft of more than $5500 worth of beauty products from a Rochester business on Halloween day in 2019. The criminal complaint says Roberts and her alleged accomplice were identified by reviewing video surveillance recordings.
The court document also states that Roberts is well-known to retail businesses. The charges state that she has been identified as a suspect in the stealing or shoplifting of over $30,000 worth of products from other stores beginning in 2016.
Her sentencing order did not include a restitution amount for the theft of the beauty products but did order Roberts to pay a total of nearly $2700 in restitution for the thefts covered by the charges that were dismissed through the plea deal.
