Next week the Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in Rochester, Minnesota will be participating in a coin drive to help local charities. The drive is called Coins for a Cause and if that sounds familiar to you, that's because this isn't the first time they've done it!

How Can I Help Coins for a Cause?

The holiday season is an exceptionally charitable time of year so keep the giving going and help Coins for a Cause. All you need to do is collect all of the coins that have been piling up around your house. I know I have change lying around that I'm not going to use because I never pay with change. After you have the change collected, next Friday the 10th stop by the Rochester Affinity Plus branch between 11 AM and 4 PM to make your donation. That's it!

What Charities Will My Change be Going to?

Paige with Affinity Plus told me that all of the change collected will be donated to Second Harvest Heartland or a local Feeding America food bank. In Rochester, the money will be donated to Channel One Food Bank. With the coins that are scattered around your house, you could help feed a fellow Minnesotan who's hungry this holiday season. Paige mentioned that one dollar will provide three meals to someone, which is amazing.

Affinity Plus is also matching up to $25,000 of the total donations made at all branches, so suddenly $25,000 becomes $50,000. If I do some quick math, that's... 1.5 million meals! So find that change this weekend and don't forget to bring it to our Affinity Plus branch on Friday.
