Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester City Council has selected the city's next City Administrator.

The Council voted this evening to enter into negotiations on an employment contract with Alison Zelms. She is the Deputy City Manager in Mankato and has previous experience with city administrations in Prescott and Sedona, Arizona along with Evanston Illinois. A news release says the City Council is expected to vote on the contract at its next meeting on December 14th.

Zelms and fellow finalist Maple Grove City administrator Heidi Nelson were interviewed by the City Council last Thursday. They were among the 59 candidates who applied for the position.

Current Rochester City Administrator Steve Rymer notified the City Council in June of his plans to resign in order to relocate closer to his family. He is expected to remain in the position until Zelms reports for work, which is a date that will be decided during the contract negotiations.
