Were Rochester Burglary Victims Targeted?

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Burglars who broke into two Rochester homes may have targeted them because their owners also own Asian businesses in the city.

Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says similar cases several years ago had one link in common - the victims were Asian-Americans who owned businesses and often kept large amounts of money at their homes rather than in a bank.

Moilanen says the victims in these cases reported the burglaries Friday. In both cases, the homes were ransacked and items reported missing included jewelry, camera equipment, and purses. It appears entry in both incidents was made through a window.

Moilanen says the value of the stolen property was put at several thousand dollars.

One of the homes is located in the 1000 block of 1st Ave NE. The other is located in the 2200 block of Crimson Ridge Dr NW.
