Do you know about the John Marshall High School Spirit Van? It's an ongoing project built and maintained by the Auto Technology and Engineering students in a partnership with a Rochester business.

According to John Marshall High School, for the last year they've been partnering with AMPED Auto & Audio Accessories. During the pre-Coronavirus time, eight to nine students worked on the Spirit Van, three at a time, with owner, Gary Grover. With the schools shutting down, it's been one on one time, with social distancing rules in place.

Gary Komaniecki, Auto Technology/Engineering teacher at JMHS, said,

“My students are learning many real-world skills through the partnership such as electrical theory, panel fabrication, audio system design, professional installation techniques, and problem solving..."

The beauty of hands on vocation education. Gary Grover, thank you for offering your extra time and money to help these students pick up valuable work-place experience.

Now...the Spirit Van! It has a super upgraded sound system and interior, work done by the students. Work done just in time for a drive-thru graduation where they'll need graduation music playing big and loud for all.

*The JM Spirit Van features student-build amenities such as audio and gaming systems, a PA, programmable horn, and a custom designed BBQ grill shaped like a rocket. The grill was designed and built by a former JMHS graduate, which helped launch her career into mechanical engineering.
