Adulting... the worst thing known to man. Okay, it's really not that bad, but it hit me like a train going 500 miles an hour down the tracks with no warning. There wasn't a single class in high school or college that can prepare you for the real world. I totally wish there was. Going into college, I had two ideas of what I wanted to do with my life but had no experience in them to know which direction to go. That's probably why I have changed careers a few times.

Rochester school district understands that students may have an idea of what they want to do, but don't have a full understanding of what it takes to get there. According to Fox 47, there's a national program called INCubatoedu and Rochester School District is the first in Minnesota to put the program into their curriculum. The article says that this program encourages students to dream up a business and build it from the ground up. High School Juniors and Seniors are able to enroll if they so wish to.

Think back to high school, I had no idea where to even start when it came to a business plan. Like everything in life, you need a great coach to help you find success. My favorite part of the program is that the teachers bring in great coaches from the real world who have been in these students shoes. These mentors assist in all aspects of business planning and development while providing advice from their own experiences.

At the end of the year, the class will pitch their idea in front of investors to see if they can get a loan to start their new business. I think this is such an awesome program that many schools should start doing. It gives students a taste of the real world before they step foot into adulting. Maybe they will avoid the "adulting train" better than I did.
