Police said the bus was making a turn at the intersection when the rear left tires ran over the girl’s “lower extremities and bicycle.”

The bus driver - 87-year-old Karl Beeman - told police he did not see the girl and was not aware he had struck her until he felt the impact. Police later ticketed him for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Beeman pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced to one year probation and assessed $440 in fines and fees.
