Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A federal judge has sentenced a Rochester man to 17 years in prison for a child pornography conviction.

After he completes his federal prison sentence, 26-year-old Arkady Pichurin will be under supervised release for another 25 years. He has also been ordered to pay $5000 to the Domestic Trafficking Victims Fund.

Pichurin entered a guilty plea to a federal charge of producing sexually explicit images and videos of a minor last September. The conviction involves a child who was between nine and 10 years old when the Rochester man contacted the victim through online "instant messaging and texting services, including Snapchat." Federal prosecutors say he lied about his age and identity to sexually exploit the young child.

A news release from the US Attorney's Office says Pichurin also admitted using similar tactics to obtain sexually explicit images and videos of more than 20 other children. The charges against him indicated he had thousands of images showing the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers, along with bestiality.

Pichurin recently entered into a plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors and admitted to 10 of the 60 child pornography-related charges that had been filed against him in state court. Those charges alleged activity similar to the allegations he faced in federal court and stemmed from a search of his Rochester home in January of last year that led to the seizure of a large number of child pornography images and videos. Some of the videos were of conversations between Pichurin and children.

He is scheduled to be sentenced for his convictions on the state charges at the Olmsted County Courthouse on April 4th.
