Rochester, Olmsted County Ready For 2021 National Night Out
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Department and Olmsted County Sheriff’s office are geared up for the annual National Night Out event that is scheduled this week.
Like millions of people around the country, local residents will hold block parties and similar gatherings and many will be visited by law enforcement officers.
RPD says Tuesday’s National Night Out is held “to promote neighborhood unity and police-community partnerships in pursuit of safer communities.”
RPD is encouraging neighborhoods to organize gatherings and register them at rocholmstednno.com.
Police Chief Jim Franklin shared these thoughts:
“We’re committed to delivering the highest level of public safety to the City of Rochester, but that requires all of us to work together. National Night Out is a perfect opportunity for neighborhoods and law enforcement to come together, have some fun and support a common goal.”
The annual event is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August. Last year’s local event was delayed until October because of the pandemic.
