Rochester Police Chief Announces Board Game Event

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A recent visit to a Rochester business by Police Chief Jim Franklin has led to an event being planned next month that will feature game boards.

Franklin went to the D6 Games store to check for new board games and got into a conversation with owner Chris Fursa about exposing the form of entertainment to more children and families. The two soon came up with a plan to “bring the community together” and have scheduled the event for Nov. 9 at D6 Games.

According to Franklin, the free event called Badges and Board Games will include an afternoon of strategy, competition, and fun. He says unlike video games, participants will face off with a competitor in a live environment.

“It will be an afternoon for young people in our community to connect with members of law enforcement and the fire department in a uniquely engaging way. Similar to board games, we use strategy, determination, and teamwork in our line of work” shares Chief Jim Franklin.

Fursa adds, “We opened D6 Games, in Rochester, to bring people together and build a community. By joining forces with public safety we wanted to grow the community even more, showing everyone can have fun playing tabletop games and making new friends.”
