Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police officers were involved in a brief but intense incident last week.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the officers were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Rose Dr. SE around 7:00 pm Thursday to check on a domestic assault report.

The officers were let inside by an apparent family member and could hear a loud argument taking place in a bedroom. Moilanen says the officers went into the bedroom and discovered the argument was taking place inside a locked closet. The officers forced the door open when they heard a scream and found a man pointing a gun at a woman who was on the floor.

The officers disarmed the man and found the handgun was loaded.

The 54-year-old woman told the officers the man is her ex-boyfriend and he had come to her home to talk about their relationship. The woman said the man punched her several times in the face and then pulled out the gun.

Police arrested the man on felony and domestic assault and other charges. He was identified as 62-year-old Dong Lam.
