The Rochester Police Department just announced the details about their annual Shop With a Cop event. This will be the 17th year that the RPD has shopped for gifts, but this year will be much different because of the pandemic.

This year officers will surprise families with $150 in gift cards and other gifts. Because of the pandemic officers won't shop with kids, instead, they will deliver the holiday packages to 50 families next week. Rochester Police Chief Jim Franklin said, "Our goal is to brighten the holidays for families in need while promoting positive relationships between police officers and area youth. We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate in a modified Shop with a Cop event this year and look forward to resuming the tradition next year.”

We're trying to spread holiday cheer this year too. Help us Light Up Southeast Minnesota. This year, we're trying to boost people's spirits and spread positivity by encouraging people to hang more Christmas lights than ever before. Show us your holiday display and you could win $1000.
