Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - With activity gradually ramping up at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester Public Transit has announced an increase in service to the IBM and Fairgrounds Park and Ride facilities.

Beginning next Monday, the public transit system will offer more frequent service. A news release says RPT buses will be making trips every 10 minutes during the morning and afternoon peak times. Trips will be offered every 30 minutes during the midday hours.

RPT says additional buses will be deployed for overflows but also cautioned the number of buses and drivers will be limited. Officials are asking passengers to arrive early, which should allow a more equal distribution of passengers throughout the hour.

Service at the Target and Cub Foods Park and Ride facilities remain suspended. The level of service to and from the Chateau Theater and RCTC Park and Ride lots is not being changed from the posted reduced core services schedule.

Social distancing policies remain in effect. All riders must wear a face covering and passengers should use the rear door when boarding buses. Bus riders should also anticipate lower capacity on each bus to allow for proper social distancing.
