Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One temperature record was tied and another broken in Rochester Sunday.

The morning low at the city’s airport dropped to -17, which tied the record for March 3rd, set in 1913. And another record was set Sunday as the high temperature was only -1, the coldest ever for March 3rd and only the second below zero high on record for the month of March.

Another record was set Monday morning with an unofficial low of -17. The previous record low for March 4th was -13 in 1978.

Temps will barely get above zero Monday. In fact, another record will likely be set Monday as highs are expected to only get to near 5 degrees. The current coldest maximum high-temperature record for Rochester for March 4th is 10 degrees, set in 1978.

Temperatures likely will remain below freezing all week.  

Bitterly cold wind chill conditions are expected to persist through much of Monday.
