Rochester Salvation Army Warming Center Opening This Evening
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The arrival of another arctic air mass will be accompanied by the re-opening of the Rochester Salvation Army Winter Warming Center this evening.
Homeless community members will find a warm place to spend the night, along with a light meal, shower and laundry facilities, and cots. The Salvation Army says the Warming Center opens every time the temperature drops to zero degrees or below, with the goal of keeping the community’s most vulnerable members off the streets and getting them to a safe place in dangerous winter temperatures.
At this point, the Salvation Army plans to have the Warming Center open from 7 PM through 7 AM starting tonight and running through next Tuesday morning. Last winter, the Warming Center operated on 26 dates and served an average of 35 people on each of those bitterly cold nights.
