Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester jeweler is the latest to step up and make a big donation to the recently-opened community warming center.

Rochester Catholic Charities announced Tuesday the Lasker Jeweler Star of Hope Foundation has made a $25,000 donation to help cover the costs of the center.

Earlier this week, Ron and Dianne Yanish announced a $100,000 gift to jumpstart a fundraising campaign for the center. Catholic Charities is overseeing the center’s operations and staffing.

In announcing the donation, Nicole Lasker said, “Feeding the homeless in Rochester morning and night is a blessing we are thrilled to support. The new shelter had the immediate need to feed breakfast and dinner for about two dozen people a day. We look at this as a primary need in our own backyard. This gift is designed to provide 5,000 meals through this winter and beyond.”

The Lasker Jeweler Star of Hope Foundation supports local non-profits that provide healthcare, education and primary needs for those in need. A portion of each diamond sold at Lasker Jewelers helps fund the foundation.”
