Rochester Woman Hurt In Camper Crash, Driver Arrested For DUI
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A woman who was in a camper that was being pulled by a pickup truck that crashed in rural Olmsted County Tuesday ended up at the hospital and the driver of the truck ended up in jail.
The crash happened around 4:15 pm in the 4000 block of Viola Rd NE.
The sheriff’s office says the truck was driven by 24-year-old Jontrell Overton-Smith of Kasson.
A passenger in the truck noticed Overton-Smith had dozed off and grabbed the steering wheel but it left the road and went into a ditch. The camper flipped on its side and a sheriff’s office spokesman says “it was destroyed.”
Two Rochester women were in the camper and one was taken to the hospital for treatment of a leg injury.
Deputies arrested Overton-Smith on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license.
