Rochester’s Warmest Day In 5 Years
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Another very warm and humid day is expected across southeast Minnesota Tuesday with high temperatures likely in the 90s for a third straight day.
Highs across the region Monday were generally in the low to mid-90s.
Rochester’s official high of 96 was three degrees short of the record for the date.
But it was also the warmest it’s been in the city in 5 years.
The heat index reached 100 degrees around 1:30 pm and stayed there for a few hours.
Conditions in the city were likely even warmer as the city's official weather statistics are measured near the airport.
Temperatures were still in the upper 70s in the Rochester area around 2:00 am Tuesday and some fast-moving storm cells moved through the area an hour later.
Slightly cooler weather is expected in the Rochester area Tuesday.
By the way, summer officially began at 4:11 am Tuesday.
