
Semi-Train Crash Cut Power to Hundreds of Winona Homes
Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - A crash involving a semi-truck and a slow-moving train knocked out power to hundreds of homes in Winona last night. According to the Winona Daily News, no one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 5:45 PM in an industrial area of Winona near the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
Xcel Energy reported the crash took out a power pole and caused a substation to shut down, leaving over 260 homes without power in sub-zero cold. The utility company indicated it expected it would take a long as 9 hours to restore electrical service to all of the affected customers.
